On June 13, the Wesley Wildfire Senior Softball team competed against 4 other schools in the 2017 ACSI Senior Softball Tournament. Though the weather was dreary, that didn’t stop the us from going above and beyond in each game.
Our first two games against Brampton and Pickering were huge successes, giving us a perfect start to the tournament. Unfortunately, Stouffville broke our winning streak with a close game of 10-7. But that just gave us the fire we needed for our first game in the playoffs.
With new found energy from the lunch break, we went onto the field with more spirit than when we had arrived. We competed against Pickering in the semi-finals and blew them off the charts with a winning score of 10-3.
Each team had put every last ounce of their strength into our final game. It was so intense that players got injured throughout this brawl, giving it their all. Wesley held off Stouffville and made incredible plays, but that wasn’t enough to beat them. In the end, Stouffville took the championship.
It didn’t matter what place we came in, the seniors proved that they were beyond winners throughout the entire day. From Derek amazing pitches, to Andrew Gocheco sending the ball deep into outfield, to Adrian N.’s insane catches, we played with everything we got.
Look out, ACSI, we are coming back in 2 years, and we don’t intend on losing.
