For many months, the majority of our elementary students practiced for our Spring Concert, which was scheduled for Monday, June 22, at the Toronto Christian Community Church (TCCC). This event was also our annual time to recognize the accomplishments of our Grade 1-7 students for their Christian character and academic success. As the date approached, invitations were sent out, special programs were printed, parking passes and tickets were issued. However, at the end of the day on Thursday, June 18th, we learned that the sanctuary of TCCC had suffered severe water damaged from a leak in the roof. The venue was no longer available for our concert.
Despite a valiant effort to find another location, we were not successful in our search. As a result, a decision was made to cancel the Monday night event. Instead, we would film the event at Wesley in segments during the school day on Monday, June 22, without an audience (except for students). Those clips would be combined to make a video production of what would have been our Grade 1-7 Awards & Spring Concert Night.
On Monday morning, the elementary students arrived wearing their full dress uniforms (after having an entire week of casual attire!). Filming of the various segments took place in the gym and started mid-morning. We were blessed with the presence of a seasoned professional to help with the sound recording and mixing.
Four groups were able to perform before morning recess – Grade 5-6 Dance Troupe, Primary Choir, Senior Choir, and the Boomwhackers.

After recess, the entire elementary school assembled in the gym for the awards ceremony. Led by four amazing emcees, the event moved smoothly – beginning with the Year in Review video and followed by the character awards, musical praise with the Worship Team, academic awards, sports highlights and a performance by the Staff Choir!

After the assembly, the Senior Band performed before heading off to lunch.

At 2:00 PM, the remaining three groups – Ukulele Ensemble, Recorder Ensemble and the Bucket Drumming Ensemble returned to the gym for their performances. The last group concluded at 3:27 PM, right before the end of the school day!

Although we would have liked to have ended the 2025-2026 school year with an in-person gathering of our school community to give thanks and celebrate our blessings and achievements, we are grateful never-the-less. The Lord presented a situation in which we were asked to pivot quickly, and through His grace and provision, we were able to do so.
We hope you enjoy these photos in anticipation of the video of the entire performance. May you see God’s blessing and work amongst our students and teachers, and give Him the praise and glory for another amazing year at Wesley Christian Academy!
