This afternoon, the elementary division put on the second part of the annual talent show, showcasing more of the budding skills and talents of our young students. We started the show with a new group of emcees from Grade 4. Once again, they kept the show rolling with enthusiasm.

Today’s show featured students with a variety of musical, dance and even runway modelling talents!

Musicians formed most of the acts, featuring solos, duos, trios or bands with instruments such as flute, violin, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, ukulele, drums, cajon, saxophone, clarinet, vocals and piano.

One brother and sister duo sang “Take me Home, Country Roads” and had a few teachers humming along in the back of the gym.

Two students even performed their math assignment. They wrote their own lyrics about calculating the perimeter of a square to the melody of “Battle Belongs” by Phil Wickham!

There was even a performance on a Chinese Guzheng (a traditional Chinese plucked zither).

Two bands wowed the audience. One rocked the gym with their version of “Wake Me Up When September Ends” by Green Day while another band who called themselves Front Street Boys got the audience to sing along to their version of “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars.

After the student performances ended, the audience was a little confused when the song “Cotton Eye Joe” by Rednex started playing and Mrs. Binder got on stage and started line dancing while Miss Phillips trotted into the gym on a pony horse swinging a lasso. Soon, other teachers started line dancing or trotting in with inflatable rooster, horse or pony costumes! Students were surprised, excited and amazed as they watched their teachers having fun on stage to showcase their talents!

Congratulations to everyone for their courage and desire to bring joy, smiles and awe to our Wesley community these past two days! We’ll have to wait until next year to see how God continues to bless our students with new and budding talents!
