Today’s Chapel Service – September 5, 2025

This morning, we held our first chapel service of the new school year. Mrs. Vant Erve led the singing of O Canada and the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer. This was followed by the Land Acknowledgement. After a few words of welcome and reminders for the new school year, the teachers led the singing of two worship songs, “Lord Reign in Me” and “Build Your Kingdom Here”.

The rest of the service was spent introducing this year’s theme – “Quest for the King’s Armour”. To the cue of some trumpets announcing her royal entry, Mrs. Vant Erve, dressed in knightly attire, introduced herself to the students as “Sir Learns-a-lot”. Sir Learns-a-lot shared the theme and key verse taken from Ephesians 6:10.

This was followed by the introduction to the theme song, “Be Strong in the Lord” (Cokesbury VBS). The students and teachers followed the video to learn the words, actions and beat of the energetic song.

Next, Sir Learns-a-lot asked for six student volunteers to go to the front and put on a prop. Each item represented a piece in the Armour of God. Sir Learns-a-lot then explained each component and how we can use it daily in our journey for God’s kingdom.

After the explanation, Sir Learns-a-lot asked the audience to read Ephesians 6:10-18 with her to provide context for the need to wear the Armour of God. She then ended the service by praying for the students and leading the reading of our aspirational passage.
