The ELC students had their first chapel of the year in the cafeteria this morning. Representatives from SK2 led the pledges.

Mrs. Michelle led a time of worship. They sang two classic songs – “He’s Able” and “The B-I-B-L-E”.
Mrs. Michelle then announced that today’s message was about learning to trust God and read Psalm 56:3. Next, she asked students to share things that they are afraid of. Many replied with answers such as “the dark”, “nightmares”, “bugs”, “wolves”, and “skeletons”.

Mrs. Michelle then shared a story about her travels to Newfoundland. After the long plane ride, she and her husband still had to drive many hours to their hotel. As they journeyed into the evening, they were warned about moose encounters, which could result in serious accidents. As they drove, they prayed for safety. God heard their prays because he got them to the hotel safely and kept the sun from setting while they were driving. There were extra hours of sun as the day of their travels was the summer solstice! Just as she did in the story, Mrs. Michelle encouraged students to pray when they are scared or nervous. She also emphasized that we can see God’s faithfulness with characters in the Bible. God is there to keep us safe just like He did when the Israelites crossed the Red Sea, when Daniel was in the lion’s den and when Peter walked on water to meet Jesus.
To conclude, Mrs. Michelle asked for a volunteer who trusts God. A SK student went to the front. Together, they prayed to end the service.
