This morning, our SK1 class led the ELC chapel service. After reciting the pledges, singing O Canada and saying the Lord’s Prayer, Miss Chung led the audience in singing two songs of thanksgiving – ” I Want to be Thankful” and “Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart”.

Today’s message was given by Mrs. Kaske. She started with showing some letters on the screen and asked if anyone could put a word together. Eventually, several of her SK1 students appeared at the front with foam letters to spell the word THANK. Mrs. Kaske shared how each letter reminded her of the following:
- T for trust in Jesus who died on the cross to save us from our sins.
- H for heaven, where there are not tears, illness or pain.
- A for awesome, which is what describes our God.
- N for nothing. Nothing can separate us from God’s love.
- K for kindness, which is what God shows us through His love and grace.

After the message, the teachers dimmed the lights and the students at the front turned on their glowing letters. Mrs. Kaske reminded students that we need to “glow for Jesus with a thankful heart”. She explained that giving back is one way to show a thankful heart. This was the perfect segue to our October Care & Share announcement for Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child.
Just as they did in the elementary chapel service earlier in the morning, representatives from the SK1 class delivered an adorable message explaining how the Care & Share event will work. There are two ways to support this initiative – preparing your own shoebox or sending a monetary donation so that the SK1 teachers can purchase items for their class to use to fill their own shoeboxes. At the end of their presentation, the students shouted, “We Share. We Care. We pack with love.”

To conclude, Mrs. Kaske led the students in prayer, thanking Jesus for the cross he bore (Trust), for the promise of Heaven, for our Father who is Awesome, forGod’s love which Nothing can separate us from, and for the Father’s Kindness found in His grace and love.
