Today’s Chapel Service – October 10, 2025

We have three Chapel Teams in the elementary division and the first team led this morning’s worship. After O Canada and listening to the Land Acknowledgement, they led the audience in singing “Awesome God”.

This was followed by representatives from the SK1 class who delivered an adorable message explaining how the October Care & Share event for Operation Christmas Child will work. There are two ways to support this initiative – preparing your own shoebox or sending a monetary donation so that the SK1 teachers can purchase items for their class to use to fill their own shoeboxes. At the end of their presentation, the students shouted, ” We Share. We Care. We pack with love.”

Next, the Chapel Team Leaders reviewed the various pieces of the Armour of God, before leading the audience in singing “Lord Reign in Me”.

In preparation for the message, Mrs. V resumed her role as “Sir Learns-a-lot” and introduced a new focus – “Armour Up with Justice” via the familiar story of David and Goliath. The tale was recounted with great humour in a video by several Grade 6 actors.

After the video and singing an action filled song called “Hey, Hey, Hey Goliath”, Mrs. V shared some key points about how David put on the Armour of God. He

  • Wore the breastplate of righteousness by standing up to do the right thing when no one else would
  • Wore the helmet of salvation by using his own faith and relationship with God. She explained that you cannot rely on someone else’s faith in battle and you need your own faith when facing the giants in your life.

Mrs. V also emphasized the need to recognize that you should not let others’ lack of faith dictate your decisions. Each of us must live out our faith and rely on God when we face challenges. She shared that David practiced wearing and using the Armour of God before the battle. He was known to have spent quiet moments with God, writing psalms and playing music to praise Him. Mrs. V also used the example of going into a piano exam or competition. No one would go into such an event without practicing!

Before the service ended with the recitation of the benediction, a promotional Walk-a-thon video prepared by Grade 8 students was shown. Only one more week remains in our annual fundraiser!
