Thanksgiving is a season to be thankful and to reflect upon how abundantly we have been blessed, not only with big things in life but all the small things too. It is a celebration that is shared with family and friends.
On Friday, our Wesley family sat down for a wonderful Thanksgiving lunch. The festive meal consisted of roasted turkey breast and gravy from the Village Grocer while our chefs lovingly prepared all the side dishes and dessert – frosted spice cake. This year, the Grade 7 students also helped with the meal by doing all the prep for the stuffing!

The ELC classes enjoyed their special meals in their classrooms. Some classes wore festive “turkey” hats while they ate, while other classes put their tables all together to make one long table for a family style dinner. Each class also received a special visit from Mr. Schmidt, all dressed in his “turkey regalia”.

Students in Grades 1-4 enjoyed their turkey lunch in the cafeteria, while those in Grades 5-8 sat in the gym. Twenty volunteers, Mrs. Ma, and Ms. Hoover prepared plates of hot food and served our elementary teachers and students. Our senior students even had heaping plates of seconds or thirds!

Some of the elementary school classes were also responsible for part of the event. This included:
- Grade 1 – Making a thank you card for the kitchen staff for cooking the special meal
- Grade 2 – Making thank you cards for each parent volunteer
- Grade 3 – Singing or saying the prayer in the cafeteria and gym
- Grade 4 – Setting up the table decorations
- Grade 5 – Setting the tables
- Grade 6 – Setting up the tables & chairs
- Grade 7 – Doing the prep for the stuffing
- Grade 8 – Putting away all the tables and chairs
At the end of the student lunch period, the volunteers sat down and enjoyed the festive meal themselves. A GIANT THANK YOU goes to everyone who participated and helped with the event.
