Chapel Team 2 was in charge of this morning’s elementary chapel service. After singing O Canada and listening to the Land Acknowledgement, they led the audience in our first worship song, “Our God”.

Next, we were graced with the return of “Lady Loves-to-Learn” who reviewed the theme Bible verse from Ephesians 6:10 “Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power” and the different components of God’s armour. This week, we continued our focus on the sub-theme to “Armour Up with Justice!” Students read various Bible verses by class that talked about God’s righteousness.

Our second worship song was “Way Maker” and the chorus, in particular, was sung with enthusiasm as our student musicians, Mrs. Iun and Mr. Bailey played. This was followed by a warm welcome to Pastor Jeremiah from the Olive Branch Community Church.

Pastor Jeremiah opened his message with defining “justice” from the world’s perspective and from God’s. According to the world, justice is doing what is right and fair. In the Bible, justice is standing up for God and His teachings even when others do not feel that way. Pastor Jeremiah then asked the students for examples from the Bible who stood up for justice. Names like David, Moses and Daniel were given by eager students. He also explained that justice is not about punishing but doing what is right and helping those who are not treated fairly. It is not about revenge but restoring love and peace. Pastor Jeremiah emphasized that justice matters because God is just. As he wrapped up his message, Pastor Jeremiah shared three things that each of us can do to armour up with justice, including the following:
- Stand up for others – don’t laugh along when others are being teased or bullied.
- Tell the truth – even when it’s difficult.
- Do what is right – even when no one is watching as God sees your choices.
Pastor Jeremiah also reminded us that Jesus is the ultimate armour. He died on the cross and gave up His righteousness so that we can be saved. However, it is up to us to decide whether to take that step to accept Him and His free gift of life. Pastor Jeremiah also reminded us to ask “What would Jesus do?” when we find ourselves in challenging situations. He concluded his message in prayer, thanking God for His armour and asking Him to help us all to be brave knights for His kingdom so we can be light and positive change in this world.
The Chapel Team led the audience in a third worship song, “From the Inside Out” before having the audience read the benediction together to conclude the service.
