At the end of each month, one class or grade at Wesley leads the effort to raise funds or collect items to help a charity in our local or global community. This event is called “Care & Share Day”. Different charities are chosen to represent diverse projects in order to give our students awareness of local and global needs and to help them realize that effort from children and youth can make a difference. More importantly, we want to encourage them to participate with a loving and servant heart.
In November, representatives from our Grade 6 classes announced that they would be continuing the tradition to support CTV/ The Salvation Army’s Toy Mountain Campaign. Monetary donations collected on Care & Share day would be used to purchase toys for families in need this Christmas.
This morning, our Grade 6 students had the opportunity to walk over to Walmart at Markville Mall. With the $1,106.10 that was generously donated, they began their shopping adventure.

Students were in groups and each had a job to do – whether that be pushing the cart, using a calculator to keep track of their group total, writing the toys and costs down on a clipboard, or lining up at the check-out to put their purchases into bags. Their excitement and desire to spend the money wisely and to use their choices to bless others this Christmas was wonderful to see!

Before returning to school, the Grade 6 classes stopped at the food court and enjoyed a snack and/or beverage.
Thank you for your contributions that allowed our students to have this unique opportunity. Your donations and our student’s efforts will certainly make a difference for many families this Christmas.
