Last school year, the focus of our elementary division was to encourage students to display CRISP (Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Servant’s Heart, Perseverance) behaviours. This is a foundational expectation that we are carrying forward to complement our yearly theme. As such, we want to continue to recognize students who have stood out this term with their CRISP actions, words and deeds.
On Thursday afternoon, Mrs. V led the celebration. She started by encouraging the students to read the description, actions, and key Bible verses associated with each CRISP trait before she announced the winners. The winners were nominated by teachers. Mrs. V read short descriptions about why each student was given the award. There are no fixed number of awards by grade or class so sometimes, there are many winners for a CRISP characteristic while other times, there may only be few winners for a specific category. As you can see from the photos, there were quite a few who were given the “Servant’s Heart” award this term.

After the CRISP Awards, there was a Wesley Wildfire Sports Update. It focused entirely on volleyball. Our Junior Co-Ed Team were the first to be recognized for winning their tournament. Their Encourager Award was given to a student in Grade 6.

The Senior Girls Team were the next to ascend the stage for their ribbons. They too, placed first in their tournament. The Encourager Award was given to a Grade 8 student who was absent today.

The last team to be recognized was the Senior Boys Team. Their championship victory allowed Wesley to win all three of the ACSI Volleyball Tournaments this year. The Encourager Award was given to a Grade 7 student.

Next, Mr. Au brought a trophy to the forefront. It was a trophy for the Senior Boys Volleyball Tournament. This trophy had not been handed out in recent years. In fact, the last name plate on the trophy was from 2018 and it was awarded to Wesley! Mr. Au shared that there does not seem to be trophies for the Senior Girls or Junior Co-Ed Volleyball Teams so the trophy would represent the prize for all three teams!

Congratulations to all the award winners today!
