Yesterday, we had a Winter Olympics House Team Day! The day started with our House Team Captains giving the team cheers after morning announcements.

JK to Grade 8 students and staff dressed in House Team colours. Some had great costumes and accessories to make the day extra fun!

In the afternoon, the JK to Grade 8 students gathered in the gym for a short assembly. In Olympic fashion, the ceremony was started with a torch relay in the gym. Two Grade 4 students from each House Team brought flash light “torches” to the Olympic cauldron by Mrs. Bolton. A second torch relay by Grade 8 students that started on the second floor continued into the gym.

Next, like every House Team event, each team had a chance to give their team cheer! After the cheering, there was a very dramatic reveal of the House Team Point standings at this point in the school year. Congratulations to Buchanan!

After the short assembly, the Houses were divided into smaller “Mini Teams” to rotate through fun activities that included:
- Winter Olympic Workouts in the gym (entire house at once)
- Winter Olympic Watch Party in the cafeteria (entire house at once) – Students were served chocolate milk, marshmallows and extra treats for the Buchanan House Team for leading in House Team Points
- Olympic Ring Toss / Snowman Knock Down (in Mini Teams)
- Olympic Themed Charades and Colouring activities (in Mini Teams)

As you can see, it was a busy and fun day to celebrate the Winter Olympics and our House Team community! Enjoy the photos!
