For the past few weeks, our Grade 5 French classes have been working through a unit titled, Tous les champions. French lessons were built around introducing sports, equipment, venues, and famous Canadian athletes. The timing couldn’t have been better as the Winter Olympics began on February 6, giving students a real-world connection to their learning.
As a culminating task, each student chose a Canadian athlete to research and used their growing French skills to write about the sport they compete in, the equipment they use, and other interesting facts about their sports journey.

To wrap up, students proudly presented their research to the class, encouraging each other to cheer on Canada’s amazing athletes. Allez le Canada!
