Glimpse Into A Classroom: PK2 March Break – Building Confidence

During the last week of March break I decided to focus on a different and unique theme.

I’ve noticed that some students are still learning to believe in themselves. I often hear “I can’t do it” or “Can you help me?” These moments show me that students are still building confidence in their abilities.

To help with this, they created “Sunshine Boxes.” They filled them with uplifting pictures, a peacock feather, a mirror, and a certificate celebrating something they did with confidence. They also added small handmade items for their classmates, making each box really special.

It was a simple activity, but very meaningful and powerful. Students felt proud of what they made and were happy to share it with their peers.

Every opportunity throughout the day became a chance to support and build their confidence.

They also read relatable books and explored feathers and replica bones, which sparked curiosity and conversation. Looking at bones helped them talk about their bodies and how each person is unique. The feathers were a reminder of confidence, kindness, growth and beauty. It was a great opportunity to celebrate themselves.

Throughout the week, we celebrated students accomplishments through oral presentations. Each student had a chance to share about their own confidence-building experiences. They also enjoyed a fun puppet show and a special certificate presentation to recognize their efforts.

Helping students find their “superhero within” was really rewarding. They discovered special strengths like kindness, perseverance, and bravery. They learned to believe in themselves. They had a blast dressing up as superheroes.

Students also practiced positive self-talk by looking into their own personal mirrors and reciting positive affirmations.

On the last day of March Break, we brought everything together with a confidence dance. It was a joyful way for students to have fun, and feel proud of who they are.

We will keep working on turning “I can’t” into “I’ll try or I can do it.”

Join them in celebrating their efforts by taking a look at their photos. Enjoy!
