This morning, Chapel Team 3 opened our elementary chapel service with the national anthem, the Lord’s Prayer and the Land Acknowledgement. They started musical worship with a song called “Prince of Peace (Your Are Holy). This is a fun song with different call and response parts for boys and girls. It is also a powerful song that praises Jesus Christ as holy, mighty, and our personal Saviour.

Before leading the students in a second song called “Desert Song”, the Chapel Leaders reviewed the six pieces of the Armour of God.
Next, Mrs. V, dressed as “Lady Loves to Learn”, gracefully floated to the front to the sound of royal music. She led more review of this year’s theme and gave a short quiz on the lessons from the Armour Up with Peace theme. It included asking about the Bible story (Mary and the birth of Jesus), the science experiment (Water Density), as well as the lessons and practical application associated with the sub-theme.

After the review, the Chapel Leaders continued with musical worship and the song “Lord Reign in Me”. This song is a heart felt prayer about surrendering personal control, dreams, and daily life to the sovereignty of God.
Our guest speaker today was Pastor Jeremiah, who also recapped our Armour Up with Peace theme. He talked about being able to stand firm in the midst of chaos when wearing the shoes of peace. He shared the story of the angel appearing to Mary and her response to the news that she was going to give birth to the long awaited Messiah. After he sang a line from the old hymn, “Trust and Obey”, he noted that Mary could have said, “No, thanks. It’s not for me”. However, she didn’t and chose to trust in God instead. As a result, she was filled with peace. Eventually, she gave birth to Jesus who brought us Salvation. The gift of Salvation brings us peace. Next, with the help of a young student, Pastor Jeremiah spent a few minutes recapping the Water Density Experiment that was done a few months ago. He concluded that just like the experiment, we need God’s peace in our lives to truly deal with our fears and anxieties, especially with all the chaos in the world right now. This led to the discussion about how Jesus is the only answer to lasting peace and how to fix our eyes on Him. Pastor Jeremiah emphasized that there are four steps.
- Pray – God listens when we pray. Jesus taught us how and modelled it for us through the Lord’s Prayer, something that we say each morning at Wesley.
- Read the Bible – We need to learn about God’s promises which are written in the Bible. It also shares how God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
- Fellowship with other believers – We can support and encourage each other with the help of the Holy Spirit.
- Choose trust over worry – It is easy for us to choose worry over trusting Jesus. However, when we do trust Jesus, He will steady our hearts and help us through whatever is worrying us.
Pastor Jeremiah concluded his message in prayer. He thanked God for His peace, asked God to help us choose trust over worry so we can experience His power and also prayed for peace around the world.

Chapel Team 3 then responded by leading the audience in reading the benediction before dismissing everyone to start their academic day.
