Today’s Chapel Service – June 19, 2026

Today was our last elementary chapel service of this school year, and it was led by our Worship Team. Most of he team was on the stage which has already been set up for graduation ceremonies next week. After singing O Canada, reciting the Lord’s Prayer and listening to the Land Acknowledgement, the leaders opened with “Gratitude” by Brandon Lake, as we are thankful not only for an amazing school year and all that came with it but for God’s overwhelming generosity, something that human words are unable to express adequately. This was followed by an energetic and fun song called “Pharaoh, Pharaoh”.

Next, one of our Grade 4 students introduced and announced the winner of the Golden Dustpan Award for May-June. This is awarded to the class who has kept their part of the hallway, hooks and shelf areas tidy for the last two months of school. The winning class was Grade 4A! Congratulations!!!

The Worship Team followed by leading the audience with two other songs – “This is Our God” and “Lead Me to the Cross”. The first of the two was introduced by one of the percussionists on the team. He shared why it was important to him and concluded that “no other song has been able to impact me like this one has.”

After the worship, Mrs. Vant Erve gathered the Grade 3B class on stage. Miss Phillips and Mrs. Serio then proceeded to the front of the gym. Our principal announced that Miss Phillips will be retiring this year. Then, Mrs. Serio read a salute to our beloved teacher that incorporated many of the “Miss Phillips expressions” that has been shared with her class throughout the year. Each one of the Grade 3B students said one of those expressions as Mrs. Serio progressed through her speech. All of Miss Phillips former students sitting in the audience could be seen smiling and pointing to the expressions on the screen as they recalled precious moments in her class. After Mrs. Serio’s speech, Miss Phillips shared a few words and remarked how memorable her time at Wesley has been. Mrs. V then prayed for Miss Phillips.

The Worship Team then led one last song, “King of Kings”, before saying the benediction to conclude the last chapel service of the 2025-2026 year.
