This morning, our ELC students held their first chapel service of the new school year. With confidence, several representatives from our SK2 class presented the pledges, O Canada and the Lord’s Prayer.
Mrs. Michelle started musical worship with a familiar and favourite song, “Trust in You Lord” by Jana Alayra. Next, she showed a short video of a hip-hop song called “Keep Your Eyes on Jesus” . It told the story taken from Matthew 14:22–33, in which Jesus walks on water and Peter steps out in faith. To the delight of some students, it also used Lego and Lego figures!

After the video, Mrs. Michelle read the Bible passage from Matthew to the children. She then asked for two volunteers. She gave one a life preserver and another a beach ball – both important tools to float on water. She had a short conversation with the children, asking them about times when they felt afraid or nervous. Mrs. Michelle also shared her own story about being scared. She was so nervous for her driving test that she had to do it four times! However, she reassured the students that when we are afraid, we can tell that to Jesus and keep our eyes on Him. He will help us!

To respond to the message, Mrs. Michelle led the children in singing “Walking with Jesus”. It’s a song about walking with Jesus during good days (in the sunshine) and bad (in the shadows). He is always with us and we can call on Him. To conclude, Mrs. Michelle reminded the students to keep their eyes on Jesus and prayed for them.
