Today’s ELC Chapel Service – October 9, 2026

Our SK1 class led this morning’s ELC chapel service. After representatives from the class led the pledges, O Canada and the Lord’s Prayer, additional student leaders launched into musical worship. Each of the three songs had a central theme – Thanksgiving! The leaders led the audience in singing with actions to The Butterfly Song, Thankful and Give Thanks With A Grateful Heart.

Mrs. Li shared today’s message about prayer. She explained that prayer is talking to God, just like talking to a friend. She emphasized that God listens to the tiniest prayer from the youngest child to the longest prayer from a grandma. Mrs. Li also explained that God can listen and wants to hear from us at the same time because He loves each of us. He never naps and is never too busy to listen. Nothing surprises Him because He knows everything about us – even the number of hairs we have on our heads! He also collects our prayers in golden bowls in heaven and never loses any of them. Mrs. Li also reminded the children that we can pray any time – while we are driving, going down the slide, before we eat, before bed, etc.

To conclude, Mrs. Li had four students show something that they are thankful for. Each one had a special prop – a picture of food, a book, a toy and family. Then, she asked the students to join her in prayer so that she could thank our loving Heavenly Father for His many blessings.

Happy Thanksgiving!
