On Tuesday, the Wesley Jr. Soccer team competed in the ASCI soccer tournament at Bethesda Sports Fields. The day started off cloudy and damp. But the athletes did not let the less than optimal conditions hinder their performance. In the morning, they participated in a round robin of 4 schools and emerged undefeated. They earned first in their pool and went on to play in the playoffs. Wesley won the quarterfinal match and the semifinal match. The final match was a nail biting 30 minutes of intense play. The Wesley athletes left it all on the soccer pitch. They played with tenacity, passion and grit. Wesley had the lead until the opposing team scored a goal to tie the match in the final seconds of play. The game ended with a kick-off. In the end, it took 7 kicks to end the final match, resulting in a second place finish for Wesley. We are very proud of all the Wesley athletes who represented our school. Thank you to the parents who came to cheer us on!
