Tomorrow is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Today, Wesley students and staff all wore orange shirts in support of the many residential school survivors in Canada, as well as the remembrance of our country’s shameful past. Instead of the traditional “sea of green cardigans”, our gym this morning was full of elementary students wearing orange.
Students have been learning about this dark period in our nation’s history, and each class has done something different to reflect and commemorate.
One of the projects that the elementary students created is currently hanging in our main ground floor hallway. Students wrote their responses to the back half of the sentence starter – Every child matters because…. Mrs. Binder (Grade 3A) combined each response into a chain of solidarity, symbolizing the need to work together for a brighter future.
May we continue to learn and grow together to make our country a safe and loving place for all of God’s Children. Every Child Matters.
