At the end of each month, one class or grade at Wesley leads the effort to raise funds or collect items to help a charity in our local or global community. This event is called “Care & Share Day”. Different charities are chosen to represent diverse projects in order to give our students awareness of local and global needs and to help them realize that effort from children and youth can make a difference. More importantly, we want to encourage them to participate with a loving and servant heart.
This month, for Care and Share, the Grade 2 classes decided to support Toronto City Mission (TCM). TCM is Toronto’s oldest and longest running outreach program for people impacted by poverty. Some of the programs that they run for disadvantaged children and youth include after school care, summer day camp and leadership programs.

In addition to raising $1,150.05, Wesley students wrote 96 cards to encourage children at some of TCM’s programs! As you can see from the photos, some of the messages were simple but touching. It is our hope that these cards will bring God’s love, some joy and smiles to the children who receive them.
