Hip hip hooray for Stuffie Day!
Early in November, the grade 2B class enjoyed a very special and memorable day at school with their beloved stuffies! After introducing all the furry friends to each other at our morning meeting, we kicked off the day with a time of worship. The children were excited to sing and dance with their stuffies to our theme song of the year, “Love the Lord!”
In Math class, we had a Stuffie Parade! Partners were given the challenge of creatively parading their stuffie around the room…without holding them in their hands! We then identified how many stuffies would make a dozen and how many would make half dozen. The children were delighted to realize that all 18 of their stuffies was the perfect sum of dozen and half dozen!
Next up, the children were divided into two teams for a game of Phonics Stuffie Toss. Using their understanding of -tch and -ch rules, they earned points by tossing their stuffie into either the -tch or -ch basket to show the correct word ending. The game was a very close one with the winning team
winning by only 1 extra point!
In the afternoon, the boys and girls snuggled up with their stuffies for a time of reading. They especially enjoyed the beloved stories of Corduroy – one of my personal favourites as a child!
We then played a fun game of stuffie musical chairs and had a freeze dance party with all of our furry friends!
To end off this special day, each stuffie was presented with a certificate during our ‘Stuffie Celebration Ceremony.’
What a spectacular day of ‘Stuffie School!’ Enjoy these photos and many more on our Facebook page!
