The Wesley Walk-a-thon is always a special time for all our students, including for our soon-to-be graduates. As student leaders in our school, the grade eights were entrusted with a media project of the utmost importance: promoting their very last Wesley Walk-a-thon!

During the first week of media literacy class, these creative students were instructed to choose a target audience, collaborate with their group, and pitch their promotional ideas to their teacher. With so many great ideas, fun scripts and thoughtful considerations it was obvious that the school as a whole was about to be blessed with some real fun and focussed entertainment!

Project-based learning is really a wonderful thing. By giving the grade eight students a project with real-world stakeholders, real-world deadlines, and real-world expectations the eager students were given a glimpse into the real world of media promotion and marketing.

The ambition and hardworking nature of these grade eights led to some really wonderful videos, announcements and posters for all the school to enjoy. The few promotional videos which earned the opportunity to be during chapel, brought not only laughter and excitement, but also a fundraising spirit to the whole school.

I’m always proud of these capable creators, and I am grateful to God for the amazing talents He has blessed the grade eight students with. Thanks for your time in checking out this story, and thanks for all the generous contributions to our walk-a-thon fundraising!
