Our class welcomed the spring season with much anticipation. Before spring began, our students displayed some restless energy. Their behaviour changed as well, and their noise level increased. We called this “spring fever”.
In the first week of spring, we discussed the signs of this new season and different activities associated with it. Our class completed a spring drawing project that reflected their responses to the following questions:
- what are your their feelings/emotions about spring?
- what do you want to do in this season?
- what do you want to see in spring?
- what is your favourite activity of the season ?

Then, our Dramatic Centre was transformed into a Dress Up Centre, where some of our students enjoyed dressing up and having fun doing their own fashion show. They made beautiful flowers out of tissue paper and displayed it in our designated display table. Some of our students made beautiful bouquets to give to their loved ones. They also learned to fold a paper butterfly, which they decorated using markers to make it look colourful. They had fun flying these paper butterflies during our playground playtime. Spring colouring sheets were also made available for all the students, as well as paper for them to draw their own pictures about spring.

In the second week of spring, we focused on Easter. Easter is a joyful celebration of new life and the resurrection of Jesus. We celebrate it with popular traditions like decorating eggs, hunting for candy hidden by the Easter Bunny, and gathering for family meals. The holiday follows Lent and Holy Week, which tell the story of Jesus’ life, sacrifice, and resurrection.

Our class made play dough, which they enjoyed creating their spring and Easter objects. Some students made crosses, hearts, tombs, butterflies, or flowers. They were very proud of their creations and happily showed them to everyone. We planted red bean seeds in a plastic bag for our experiment to observe their growth. They also made Easter cards and other Easter paintings using different art materials.

We concluded our Easter topic by re-enacting the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem, with some of our students waving palm branches and singing “Hosannah!” meaning Jesus save us, as one of our students dressed as Jesus passed by. We are truly grateful for Easter which brings a message of hope, renewal and redemption through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

May your Easter celebration bring joy and love to your family. Happy Easter, everyone!
