Glimpse Into A Classroom: Toddler 1 – Christmas!

For the month of December, the toddler 1 class celebrated Christmas in their classroom by participating in Christmas activities and learned about the gift of Christmas and how God sent us Jesus to bring us the joy, love, and hope we all need!

The toddlers began their Christmas activity adventure by creating their own Christmas stocking! They used different art supplies such as stickers, markers, and glitter to create their artwork and get into the Christmas festiveness!

They continued participating in Christmas activities by creating their own Christmas ornaments! They used different coloured markers and stickers to create their very own ornament for the upcoming activity! The next day the toddlers created their own Christmas tree to stick their ornaments on! One by one they placed their very own ornament on their Christmas tree they created as a group!

To share the importance of Christmas and why we celebrate Christmas, the toddlers read the Christmas story during circle time! They learned about how God sent Jesus to us and how that is the best news we can have!

To encourage the toddlers knowledge, they got to see a physical copy of the nativity scene. The toddlers observed the different people and animals they saw in the barn and got ready for the next Christmas activity! The toddlers got to create their own nativity scene, and they learned more about the people involved in the Christmas story!

Next they continued in their Christmas activities by creating ginger bread men and making Christmas cookies out of play-doh! They used the rolling bins and cookie cutters to create yummy Christmas cookies to celebrate the season of giving! The toddlers also had many dance parties to different Christmas songs such as “Go tell it on the mountain,” “God gave me Jesus,” and We Wish You a Merry Christmas! They jumped and danced around the classroom as we celebrated this joyful time of year!

To wrap up the week, the toddlers also created their own wreaths out of paper plates and green tissue paper, and they added different coloured pompoms around their paper plate wreath!

These past few weeks in December have brought so much joy and excitement! It has been a blessing to plant the seeds of the gift of Christmas and also watching the toddlers have fun as we get ready for this holiday season! Through hands on learning and exploring the Christmas story, the toddlers have practiced their observations, fine motor, and cognitive skills!
