House Team Day – November 18, 2025

Tuesday was our first House Team Day of this school year. Students and teachers dressed in clothing or costumes that reflected their house team colours to show their team spirit!

The day started with the House Team Captains greeting the incoming students outside. There was even a “green” dinosaur costume, worn by one of the Adams House Team Captains! After welcoming the students, the captains moved inside for morning announcements. Each team took a turn shouting their team cheer!

After lunch, there was a special assembly in the gym. Students sat with their teams and everyone admired each other’s outfits. Aside from wearing their team colours, many had accessories such as wigs, necklaces, hats, tutus, and sunglasses. Some even went “above and beyond” and created their own costumes!

After starting with a warm welcome, Mrs. Ma shared some sad news about the passing of Dr. Ronald Fry. The purple team – Fry House – is named after him. He was the District Superintendent for Canada for the Church of the Nazarene and sponsored the start of the elementary school for Some Place Special Christian Day Care. This elementary school is now known as Wesley Christian Academy. His support and leadership were critical in the early years of the growth and development of the school. Mrs. Ma asked the students to remember his family and to pray for them during this difficult time.

Next, each house team had a “cheer off” before settling down to watch a special slide show. It featured teachers and staff who had been secretly participating in “Undercover Spirit Days”. At various points in the past two months, teachers have been doing some unusual things. If students noticed and mentioned the theme, they received 5 house team points. Teachers were seen drinking out of “anything but a cup”, wearing “6’s and 7’s” and “Secret Agent Day”.

After the assembly, students went to different classrooms by house team and age group to make friendship bracelets in their team colours. Grade 7 & 8 students led the activity. Older students helped younger ones. Hopefully, through the process, they even made new friends!
