Wesley Student Sings O Canada at Dragon Ball Gala

All of our students at Wesley are special and talented in some way. God has blessed each of us with tremendous gifts and potential, each unique and designed to shine at designated moments in our lives.

At times, we like to recognize and congratulate some of the special accomplishments that some of our students achieve outside of their studies at Wesley.

On February 10th, J from our Grade 5 class, had the honour of singing the national anthem at the Dragon Ball, the Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation’s annual benefit gala at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Combining philanthropy with the celebration of the Chinese New Year, the Dragon Ball has maintained its position as one of Toronto’s most anticipated events and the largest Chinese New Year celebration of its kind in North America for the last three decades with approximately 1000 guests annually. This year, the Dragon Ball celebrated the 35th anniversary of Yee Hong’s flagship fundraising gala. The funds raised help support the cultural and language appropriate care and services provided by Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care to seniors of various ethnic backgrounds in the GTA.

Immediately after J’s performance, Mr. Frank Scarpitti, the Mayor of Markham, shared words of encouragement and appreciation for her singing. This was followed by many blessings from the different councillors as well.

J’s family would like to praise God for His protection and for the opportunity to use the wonderful gift He has given her to help raise money to support seniors in the community.
