On Wednesday afternoon, we celebrated our Senior Kindergarten students at their graduation from Wesley Christian Academy. With Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance playing, the students walked into the packed gymnasium wearing their blue graduation gowns. We have two SK classes this year and 50 graduates!

The SK2 class ascended the stage first while the SK1 class lined the front of the gym. Once in position, a few of the SK2 students led the audience through the pledges, recitation of the Lord’s Prayer, and the singing of O Canada. This is how they started each school day at Wesley, and they wanted to start their special ceremony the same way.

After the pledges, the SK1 class filed to their seats while the SK2 students prepared to sing “Thy Word is a Lamp Unto my Feet”.

After the performance, the SK1 ascended to the stage and sang “God is Bigger than Any Mountain”.

To transition the SK1 class off the stage following their action packed song, the audience was invited to rise and sing “Lord I Lift Your Name on High”. As the lyrics appeared on the screen, they were accompanied by beautifully drawn and coloured pictures that reflected the words to the song. Meanwhile, the students returned to their seats to put on their graduation caps and prepared for the diploma ceremony.

Our SK2 class received their diplomas first from their teachers – Mrs. Li, Mrs. Wu and Mrs. Chioconi. This was followed by Mrs. Kaske and Mrs. Yu’s SK1 class. As each student was announced, Mrs. Scott shared some small facts about the individual and the profession they aspire to have in the future. As you can imagine, there were some expected choices such as policemen, fire fighters, doctors and veterinarians. However, a few chose the careers of their parents and one even declared that she wanted to be a “mommy with lots of kids”. Each student walked across the stage gracefully, shook their teacher’s hand, accepted their diploma and posed for a photo! Kudos to the graduates and their teachers for all the hard work and practices that went into preparing for this moment.

Wesley Principal, Mrs. Serio, then said a few closing remarks and prayed for the graduates before they tossed their caps to mark the end of their SK journey and their next steps to Grade 1 !

Congratulations, Wesley Christian Academy’s SK Class of 2025!
