Our Worship Team led this morning’s elementary chapel service in the gym. After the singing of O Canada and the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer, the students listened to the Land Acknowledgement.
The team opened the musical worship with”Praise” which is a popular song based on Psalm 150:6. This was followed by “The Desert Song” – a song about praising God even in the most difficult and driest seasons in our lives.

The Grade 4A class presented their Bible Verse Recitation, after a brief introduction from two class representatives. The passage was taken from Philippians 4:13-14. Students then sang ” I Have Decided to Follow Jesus” as a way to reaffirm our need to fix our eyes on Jesus to finish the race that He put before us.

Students then stood up to sing “This I believe”, which is also known as “The Creed”. This song states many of the fundamental tenets of our Christian faith. Then, it was followed by an energetic action song, “Lord I Lift Your Name On High”.

Next, Mrs. Yuen was invited for the “Teacher Interview” as part of our wrap up on the sub-theme “Armour Up with Faith”. She shared about one of the hardest seasons in her life when she had to rely on her faith. Her mother was ill from a rare blood condition and was experiencing complications. During that very difficult time, Mrs. Yuen “hung tight to God” and chose to go on with faith. Her mother encouraged her to look beyond the circumstances and to trust God. She explained that He is always working and for our good, no matter what that my look like to you.
When asked for advice when it is hard to put on the shield of faith, she had two main points:
- Choose Scriptures Over the Overwhelming Thoughts – God did not promise a life of ease for His children. However, when we meditate on His words, we can find comfort. She shared Joshua 1:9 with the students, a verse that her own son had been learning in his class.
- Walk in Community – Life is hard on our own. However, when we walk with classmates, brothers and sisters in Christ, and family, we can find strength when we pray for each other, point to God and help each other raise the shield of faith together.

After Mrs. Yuen’s sharing, the Worship Team led the students in singing “Goodness of God” and “Praise” before asking everyone to read the benediction together to end the service.
