Today’s Chapel Service – January 9, 2026

This morning’s chapel service was led by Chapel Team 1. After the singing of the national anthem, the recitation of The Lord’s Prayer, and listening to the Land Acknowledgement, the team led the audience in singing “Oceans”.

It’s been quite a few weeks since we have reviewed the Armour of God so the leaders asked their fellow students to fill in the blank when each piece was mentioned. We are happy to report that the holidays did not impact the audience’s knowledge!

After the review, the Chapel Leaders led the second worship song, “Not Be Shaken”.

Next, Mrs. Binder and representatives from her Grade 3A class walked to the front while trumpets announced their arrival. With great enthusiasm, she led the review of the theme verse from Ephesians 6:10 and launched into this week’s sub-theme, Armour up with Faith!

Then, the students watched a short but hilarious video put on by Wesley teachers to recount the story of Peter’s attempt to walk on water to meet Jesus.

After the video, Mrs. Binder spent some time examining Peter’s example with the help of Grade 3A students. Using a variety of Bible verses to support the message, they focused on 4 key points about faith:

  1. Step out of the boat – Faith requires Action:  We should not just wait for others to step out of the boat first. Instead, choose to Armour Up with Faith! It is hard to follow Jesus alone, but often in life God will ask us to be the first one to take the risk, trust him, and obediently follow Him. It may feel like we are alone – but remember God is with you!
  2. Be ready for the rough waters: Obedience and faith in God isn’t always going to calm the storms and challenges in our lives. It is often an opportunity for us to become stronger in our faith as we choose to lean on our faith in Jesus rather than ourselves.
  3. Stay focused on Jesus: Life will be full of big and little storm because we live in a broken world that hasn’t yet been fully redeemed and restored. It is ok to notice the storms and even to be afraid but remember to stay focused on Jesus so you can keep walking above the waves rather than sinking.
  4. Have a growth mindset when it comes to your faith: Growth mindset is about using our mistakes and failures to improve and become better. Choosing to practice a growth mindset regarding our faith makes our faith stronger. It doesn’t mean that we will be able to do more “ourselves”, but instead, that we will more consistently keeping focusing and holding onto Jesus in all situations.

To respond to the message, the Chapel Team led the singing of “Forever”.

Mrs. Binder then returned to the front of the gym and recapped the four points to help students apply what was shared.

The Chapel Team then led the audience in the singing of the fourth and final song, “Anchor” before the recitation of the benediction and dismissal.
