This morning, Chapel Team 2 opened the worship with O Canada, the Lord’s Prayer and the Land Acknowledgement. The first praise song was “Peace Like a River” with all the actions.

This week, Mrs. Binder played the role of Medieval royalty and reviewed the theme verse and the different components of God’s armour. Emphasis was put on our current sub-theme, Armour up with Peace by wearing the Shoes (Gospel of) of Peace. The Chapel Team then led the students through a series of responsive passages. Some were read by specific grades while others were led by the leader.

Our second praise song was “Prince of Peace (You are Holy)”, a song that is sung with specific parts for boys and girls. The Chapel Leaders then said a prayer before welcoming our guest speaker, Pastor Kevin.

He began in a comedic fashion, talking about wearing the right shoes for the occasion. This was a great lead into the subject of the Shoes of Peace. But first, he defined peace as the calm that God gives you in your heart when your life feels stressful or busy. He said that peace is important because it keeps our hearts steady, and God’s peace protects us. He also shared ways we can use peace, make peace or feel peace such as by choosing kind words, forgiving quickly, praying when we are worried, helping others through encouragement, and trusting God who has the complete view of things. Pastor Kevin then read the story of Jesus calming the storm, taken from Mark 4. He even had a cushion as a prop to emphasize the type of peace that Jesus had while he was asleep in the midst of the storm. Pastor Kevin shared that we can have the same peace when you have Jesus in your heart. He concluded in prayer and used the opportunity to summarize the key points of his message today.
The Chapel Team then led the students in singing a response song, “Hosanna (Praise is Rising)”. This was followed by the benediction before the students were dismissed to start their academic day.
