Our Toddler 2 class led this morning’s ELC chapel service. They started with the recitation of the three pledges, O Canada and the Lord’s prayer. Ms. Wu, Mrs. S. and Ms. Jerry all helped with leading the musical worship. Four songs were chosen – “Sing High, Sing Low”, “This Little Light of Mine”, “10 000 Reasons”, and “Read Your Bible, Pray Everyday”. These were all very familiar songs to them and many could be seen doing the actions and swaying to the music.

Mrs. S was the speaker today and her message centred around the teachings of the parable – The Farmer and the Seeds. She began by recounting the parable that Jesus told. A farmer sowed seeds but not all landed on rich fertile soil. Some landed amongst thorns and were choked to death by the prickly plants. Others fell onto stoney soil and sprouted quickly at the outset. However, they did not have deep roots, so they burned when the sun came out. Some seed fell directly on the road, where they were trampled on or eaten by birds. Mrs. S explained to the children that the seeds represent the Good News of Jesus. Some reject it. Some are enthusiastic initially but then easily distracted by the ways of the world. And some land on good soil where they grow and share the Good News so others can be saved too. She then gave ideas about how they can sprout and grow like the seeds in fertile soil. She showed slides of children praying, reading the Bible, helping friends and being kind to others. She also encouraged all the students to say, “God loves you,” to each other, and asked them to give their parents and family members that amazing message. Finally, Mrs. S showed a short video to summarize her message.

After the video, Ms. Jerry closed in prayer, thanking God for the opportunity to worship and for another day to show His love.
