Today’s ELC Chapel Service – April 19, 2024

In the ELC chapel service, the PK1 class led the pledges and the worship. Students sang and did the actions to three very familiar songs – “Power Shuffle”, “Light of the World” and “10 000 Reasons”.

The speaker today was Miss Mary who shared a very energetic message about “treasures”. She began by explaining that she had a treasure box that she was going to fill. The students had to guess what she was going to put inside. One by one, she brought out various props – a pair of earrings, a bracelet, two necklaces, a toy, chocolate and even a beautiful dress! However, even though she really liked each of those items, she did not really LOVE those things.

Finally, she pulled out a picture from her bag. It was a picture of Jesus. She shared that she loves Jesus more than toys, jewelry, chocolate or fancy clothes. She also explained that if we love Jesus too, He wants us to fill our treasure box with actions such as praying, reading the Bible, worshipping at church, and helping others. She also emphasized that we should not be doing those things only once, but constantly doing those things to fill our treasure box. Then, Miss Mary brought out one last prop from her bag, a white heart to reflect God’s love. She explained that we have many treasures because of Jesus’s love for us and we, in turn, must show this same love to others. She concluded the service with a prayer, thanking God for His Son, Jesus, and asking Him to help us follow Him faithfully.
