Today’s ELC Chapel Service – April 5, 2024

Our Toddler 1 class led this morning’s chapel service, beginning with the pledges, The Lord’s Prayer and O Canada.

Next, they moved into some energetic singing with “Whole Lotta Change” and “Hosanna Rock”.

Miss Winder shared the Bible story and it was about Noah and the Ark. Although it was a familiar story to many of the children, she included many questions and comments that kept the audience engaged and thinking as she told the story. For example, when she told the children it took years for Noah to build the ark, she explained that they did not have modern day equipment like trucks and power tools. She also explained that it rained for 40 days and 40 nights, much longer than our recent 3 days of steady rain. She also asked them to imagine the silence that Noah and the other passengers on the ark must have experienced because there was no one else around!

At the end of the story, Miss Winder emphasized how Noah built an altar and thanked God for keeping them safe the whole time. God, in return, promised that He would never flood the world again and put a rainbow in the sky to remind us of that promise. To reinforce her recount of Noah and the Ark, she played a short video of the same story for the children to enjoy. After the video, Miss Winder prayed, thanking God for Noah’s example of trust and obedience, and for God’s promise to us which we can remember every time we see a rainbow.

To end the service, all the toddlers got up to the front again to lead the singing of “Shout Hosanna!”, using their palm branch props!
