Today’s ELC Chapel Service – February 20, 2026

This morning’s ELC chapel service was led by the Toddler 2 classes. Representatives from the class led the pledges, O Canada and The Lord’s Prayer. Ms. Cheung then led a time of musical worship. Due to some technical challenges, all the songs had to be sung a cappella but the children did not mind. They sang “Every Move I Make”, “Our God is So Big” and “He’s Able” with enthusiastic actions.

Ms. Cheung then introduced the topic of her message today, “With God’s Help, I Can Do It”, with some questions for the students. She asked about some of the “hard” things that they may have done such as tying shoes (for the SK students) or toilet training (for the Toddlers and PKs). She explained that these “hard things” can be easier when we ask God for help. She also wanted to show a video called The Little Bird and the Big Tree. However, it was unavailable due to technical challenges. So, Ms. Cheung recounted the story herself, with lots of her own animations. She shared that a little bird was discouraged because he could not fly like the other birds. He cried and the tree answered him, telling him to jump on his branches to reach the top. From there, he was able to see how other birds flew. Over time, the little bird took small steps and eventually flew to destinations where the other birds were gathering. Ms. Cheung explained that we can pray to God, just like how the Little Bird talked to the tree. By praying, we can trust that God listens and will help us. We also have to do our part and keep trying. With God’s help, we can do it.

Next, Ms. Cheung asked students to participate in a game – to jump 3 times, to touch their toes, to balance on one foot, to make a big circle with their arms, and finally, to sit down and be quiet for 10 seconds. The children had lots of fun. She then invited three SK students to help her with another game. She challenged them to cut a cross out of a piece of paper but with only one cut. The girls were not able to do it. One asked for help and Ms. Cheung gave her a new piece of folded paper to cut. With Ms. Cheung’s guidance, the SK student cut a straight line. When the paper was unfolded, it was in the shape of a cross!

Ms. Cheung then stated that God loves us and always helps when we ask Him. She concluded the service in prayer, thanking God for loving us and asking Him to help us remember that we are capable of doing things with His help.
