Today’s ELC Chapel Service – March 28, 2024

In the ELC chapel service this morning, the PK2 students led the recitation of the pledges, the Lord’s Prayer and O Canada.

Mrs. Goco then did an attendance check, asking each class that she called upon to shout “Hallelujah!” when it was their turn. This prepared them for the first song – “Praise Ye the Lord (Hallelujah)”. After this, Mrs. Goco continued action filled songs like “Jump with Joy” and “Give Me Oil In My Lamp”.

After the singing, she prayed for Mrs. Brown who would be sharing the message.

Mrs. Brown took on the role of “newspaper vendor/ delivery person” who shared the breaking news that Jesus is alive! With great enthusiasm and props, Mrs. Brown opened twelve giant Easter eggs, each packed with an item to share the events leading up to Jesus’s death and resurrection. The first egg contained a toy donkey, symbolizing the donkey that Jesus rode upon on Palm Sunday. Each thoughtfully curated item Mrs. Brown opened up in a new egg captured the children’s attention and added to the amazing story. Finally, when Mrs. Brown reached the last egg, it was empty! However, the students quickly learned that the empty egg represented the empty tomb because Jesus had risen!

After the dramatic presentation, everyone sang “You Gave”, a beautiful and reflective song about how Jesus gave His life for each of us.

The service ended on an uplifting song, “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High” and a concluding prayer from Mrs. Goco, thanking God for sending His Son to die for us.
