Today’s ELC Chapel Service – May 16, 2025

Our ELC chapel service was led by the PK1 class. Representatives led the audience in the three pledges, the singing of O Canada and the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer.

Miss Wong led the musical worship. She chose three very energetic songs – “Praise” by Elevation Worship, “Hosanna – Praise is Rising”, and “One Way” by Hillsong Worship. The students jumped and did the actions with great enthusiasm to all three songs, creating a beautiful worship for our Lord.

In many ways, the last song – “One Way” was the introduction to Miss Wong’s message, which focused on John 14:6. She started off by asking the students to repeat after her as she read the verse. Next, she showed two different slides. The first had a graphic of a pilot and one of a sea captain. The children recognized them immediately, and some even said that they have met these individuals before while on vacation. The second slide had graphics of a paper map and a compass. Miss Wong had to explain that paper maps were used in the past, but they are most likely more familiar with seeing their parents use the GPS on their cell phones or in their cars. She also had a compass with her and showed them how to use it. Through these two slides, Miss Wong explained that these individuals and/or devices help steer us in the right direction to where we want to go. She then made the connection for the children that the Bible is also our compass. It helps us understand what to do when we are not sure and it points us to Jesus, who is the truth, the life and the only way to get to God the Father in heaven. To reinforce her message, Miss Wong also played a short video that emphasized the main points that she had just shared.

Mrs. Lau also did the same before she closed in prayer. The children repeated after her and offered thanksgiving for the worship time and the gift of Jesus – the only way to have a relationship with our Father in heaven.
