This morning, the SK2 class led the ELC chapel service. After the pledges, O Canada and the Lord’s Prayer, Mrs. Wu led a time of musical worship with her acoustic guitar. Mrs. Michelle helped with the actions. Mrs. Wu chose fun songs that the children knew how to sing by heart – “The Hokey Pokey”, “Jesus’s Love is Bubbling Over”, and “Father Abraham”. Each song involved lots of actions and coordination! At the end of “Father Abraham”, the children sat down (as part of the ending to the song) but that was not the end to their worship. Mrs. Wu then led them in the singing of “Lord I Lift Your Name on High” and the entire cafeteria filled with praise.

Mrs. Wu then asked several student volunteers to go to the front to share how they are kind to their friends. The children shared answers such as “use kind words”, “use gentle hands”, and “share toys”. These were all good introductions to the video Bible story about the “Good Samaritan” – a story that Jesus told about a man who was robbed and left injured on the side of the road. Two people walked past him. The third, a Samaritan, helped him to an inn and paid the innkeeper to care for him.

Mrs. Wu then encouraged the audience to be a “Good Samaritan” this week and to put our love into action. Mrs. Li then closed in prayer, asking the students to repeat her prayer that asked God to help us to be kind just as He showed us kindness and love while we were still sinners.
