Today’s ELC Chapel Service – October 2, 2026

Our ELC chapel service was led by the SK2 class this morning. Five representatives confidently led the pledges, O Canada and the Lord’s Prayer. Three of them remained at the front to lead the musical worship. One began by reading the passage from Matthew 19:14 about Jesus’s command to bring the children forward to him. Students then responded by singing the classic “Jesus Loves the Little Children”. To introduce the second song, a SK2 student leader read Psalm 139:14 – King David’s declaration that he is fearfully and wonderfully made. Students then sang the song with the same name and enjoyed doing the actions as they sang. Mrs. Kaske then opened in prayer, giving thanks to the Lord for fearfully and wonderfully creating each of us and asking God to prepare our hearts, ears and minds to hear his message.

Ms. Chung shared the message this morning. She started with reading the book, The Crayons Go Back to School. Next, she asked a student for her favourite colour – pink. Ms. Chung then drew a beautiful picture in pink on the screen. Afterwards, she drew the same picture but used different colours. The children remarked that the ones with different colours looked better. Ms. Chung explained that we are like the box of crayons. When there are more colours, the result is bright and colourful. She explained that God made each of us unique but we can work together, lean from each other and have fun together. Ms. Chung also brought up two examples of activities from this week (Orange Shirt Day and a visit from Miss A who shared about being a Little Person) in which students have been learning to treat each other equality and with kindness and respect.

Before ending in prayer, Ms. Chung read Genesis 1:27 and reminded students that God created each of us and that we should treat each other the way that we would like to be treated.
