Our ELC Chapel had a change of scenery this morning! With Elementary PA Day, we moved from our usual cafeteria setting to the big gym, where our little learners gathered calmly and reverently for a meaningful time of worship.
Our PK2 students led us in the pledges, the Lord’s Prayer, and O Canada. Soon after, the gym came alive with joyful singing and enthusiastic dancing to When I Look Up, Thank You Lord for Making Me, and God Is So Good!
Mrs. Goco captured the children’s attention with a simple pumpkin and a beautiful lesson about Jesus’ love, forgiveness, and the light we are called to shine.
She began by explaining that, just like pumpkins come in different shapes, sizes, and colours, God created each of us wonderfully unique. But when she cut open the pumpkin and pulled out its messy insides, the children discovered a deeper truth: just as a pumpkin can be messy on the inside, our hearts can become messy through the wrong choices we make.

As Mrs. Goco carefully cleaned out the pumpkin, she reminded us that we cannot cleanse our hearts of sin on our own. Through Jesus, we can receive forgiveness, be made clean, and become a new creation when we put our trust in Him.
And the lesson didn’t stop there! Just as a carved pumpkin shines when a light is placed inside, Jesus calls us to let His light shine through our kindness, patience, obedience, and love for others.
What began as a simple pumpkin-carving demonstration became a powerful reminder that what matters most is not just how we look on the outside, but what Jesus can do in our hearts and how His love shines through us.
The message beautifully reflected the words of Matthew 5:16:
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
To celebrate this beautiful message, the children joyfully sang and danced to Jump Into the Light by Jana Alayra, reminding us that following Jesus means letting His love shine through everything we do!

Mrs. Goco then concluded her message with a heartfelt prayer, asking Jesus to help us shine our light before others through our good deeds, so that our Heavenly Father may be glorified.
May our little lights continue to shine brightly for Jesus, not just during Chapel, but in our classrooms, in our homes, and wherever we go!
