This morning, for our ELC service, Mrs. Wu gathered a few volunteers from various ELC classes to lead the pledges, O Canada and the Lord’s Prayer. The service was focused on musical worship and included traditional Christian songs as well as contemporary ones written to inspire students to praise the Lord. The vibrant song selection included “A Gift to You”, “Thankful”, “Jesus Hokie Pokie Song”, “The Butterfly Song”, “He’s Able” and “I Love You Jesus”.

After preparing their hearts with beautiful joyous singing, the students watched a simple video about the Bible. Some of the highlights included how the first part of the Bible is about God’s special people, the Israelites, while the second focuses on Jesus and how He came as our Rescuer so that we can have a relationship with God. It also emphasized that God still speaks to us and what we read in the Bible is relevant today.

By the end of the video, some of the younger students were a bit restless and unsure of what to expect next. However, Mrs. Wu gently asked everyone to echo her prayer. She thanked the Lord for loving each of us, for His many blessings and asked for help to be more like Jesus. As the students repeated her words, it became their words, and the room grew quiet, except for their prayer to our loving Heavenly Father.
